John Chappell House

Dr. John Chappell (1855-1938) built this house around 1890 on Grant Road (later renumbered 3901 Albemarle), one block east of the Rockville Road (Wisconsin Ave.). The house was razed in 1999.

This image depicts Dr. Chappell standing with his wife, Ida Mary Adamson Chappell, their son Sidney, and their neighbor Mrs. Otto Sonnemand (nee Clara Walther). Patients entered Dr. Chappell’s office from the west side of the house.
